Shepherd's Center of Spartanburg offers active seniors a variety of programs designed to provide learning experiences, activities promoting physical and mental fitness, avenues for volunteerism, and life-enriching opportunities so they may grow mentally, physically, and spiritually. Shepherd's Center of Spartanburg provides a healthy, encouraging environment for seniors to socialize, stay engaged in learning, participate in challenging and fun classes, and continue giving to their community through opportunities to share their gifts and skills with others.

Spartanburg County Foundation Fall Just Because Grant A group of visitors, from the Spartanburg County Foundation, dropped by to tour the Shepherds Center and learn more about programs. They presented us with a SURPRIZE check for $2500.00 from their “Just Because” Fall Grant program! We are so thankful to the Foundation and donors for thinking of The Shepherd Center of Spartanburg. Torrence Mack from TDM Technologies brought an awesome program in for our members on the different Social Media applications on iPhones, Android phone and tablets. This was a continuation from the class in June on basic cell phone technology. Though the group that participated was small, the energy was high, the information was excellent and everyone had lots of great questions. We plan on inviting Torrence back again soon.

We had an amazing time collaborating with students from Wofford College and Kara Bopp’s Successful Aging Course! They attended our Tai Chi class! Come check out Tai Chi on Thursdays at 9:30 here at the Shepherd’s Center.

We officially kicked off our first FREE Farmer’s Market Produce Giveaway, sponsored by Devoted Health. Members received a bounty of fresh fruits and vegetables! We will have three future Market Produce giveaways this fall.

About Us

In 1978, Betty Walpole and Joyce Theiler started the process of developing the concept of a meeting place for seniors. A steering committee was established along with representatives from several churches.

Scholarships are available for anyone needing financial assistance with membership dues. Membership dues are payable $30/month payable monthly (10 months - closed for July and December), quarterly or yearly. If paid yearly, member will receive a 10% discount (all-inclusive includes fitness facility fees). There is a one-time fee of $10 to purchase an I.D. badge. The badge will give you access to our facilities.
